I have been making medieval shoes, boots, pattens, and canteens since 1996. The shoes and boots can be made as turnshoes - a manufacturing method commonly used in the Middle Ages - or by using a modern manufacturing technique.
All of the leather uppers employed in the process are tanned with plant-based substances and are made from indigenous cowhide or goatskins, which helps to highlight the historical character of the shoes. The fasteners are made of brass and are custom-made for this purpose.
The shoe models are based on archaeological publications and on input from experimental archaeologists as well as from museums.
To order shoes, please use the web-shop and take down the circumference measurements (you'll recive a form after you ordered the shoes). The shoe order form as well as instructions on how to take foot measurements are provided via E-Mail after you've completed your order.
